PLDT units Smart Broadband and Piltel oppose the application of coastal station operator Zenith Telecommunications to build a radio communications network. The opposition comes after Eastern Telecommunications filed a similar complaint with the National Telecommunications Commission last month.

Pacific Internet Philippines will invest over $12m for the first commercial rollout of the WiMAX service in the country later this year. For the initial stage of the rollout Pacific Internet aims to blanket metro Manila with the WiMAX service.
