NTT DoCoMo begins a month-long experiment of a super 3G system using Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology that will support download speeds of up to 300-Mbps, nearly 100 times faster than its current WCDMA network.

NTT DoCoMo will jointly develop a USB-interfacing HSDPA data terminal for PCs together with KT Freetel as part of their joint purchasing tie-up. DoCoMo will market the terminal as FOMA A2502 high speed, which will be available to users in Japan as early as October with downlink speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. KT Freetel will put the terminal into the Korean market in October under its brand name.
