Returning to Orlando in 2004

Coach and Athletic Director, August, 2003

Football coaches at every level of the profession are already marking their calendars for the 81st annual convention of the AFCA, January 4-7, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla.

The convention will serve as the culmination of the football season for more than 5,000 coaches. It will feature a three-day coaching clinic and several other functions, including the AFCA Awards Luncheon and the AFCA Coach of the Year Banquet. The first morning of the coaching clinic (Monday) will be devoted to presentations by high school and junior college coaches. The speaker schedule is still in the planning stages, but if past history is any indication, it will feature one of the year's most spectacular slate of clinicians and topics.

The only requirement needed to attend the convention is AFCA membership. The membership fee for high school, junior college, college and professional coaches is $40. Unlike most clinics, there will be no convention registration fee.

One of the changes in the schedule will be the switching of the nights for the Buzz Sessions and the AFCA Tailgate Party. Since the Sugar Bowl will be played on Sunday night January 4, it was felt that the Tailgate Party should be held that night to give the convention coaches a chance to watch the game.

The wildly popular Buzz Sessions will be held on Monday night January 5.

VACATION OPTIONS

With white-knuckled anticipation, riders brace themselves before the roller coaster plummets at 60 miles an hour. Wildlife peer curiously from their habitat as a canoe quietly glides down the river through the unspoiled backwoods. Two distinctively different vacation options, one very diverse vacation destination--Orlando.

The choices don't stop there, though. Regardless of age or vacation wishes, Orlando I offers every member of the family a favorite pastime that can be captured forever on film and in fond memories.

With more than 95 remarkable attractions, 300 lakes, springs and rivers, 150 challenging golf courses, 800 tennis courts, 52 million square feet of shopping space, more than 110,000 rooms in luxury resorts, themed hotels and economy motels, 4,500 restaurants, and 180 annual special events including performing arts ranging from Beethoven to Shakespeare, it's easy to figure why Orlando is one of the world's leading vacation destinations.

Away from the theme parks, many visitors from around the world are discovering something they never expected--the Unexpected Orlando[R] that complements the fast-paced excitement of the attractions with the serenity of the area's natural beauty, man-made works of art and spirited performances--making it the complete vacation experience.

From morning until night, Orlando captivates visitors with great theme parks and attractions, superb shopping values, art, cultural and historical venues, outdoor adventure, thrilling water parks, diverse dining, entertainment, nightlife, and more.
