Like cinnamon? if you're diabetic, you should. Taken daily, powdered cinnamon can lower blood glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides in people with type 2 diabetes. Significant decreases averaging 20 percent were found in a Pakistani study, and, most surprisingly, readings stayed low 20 days after cinnamon intake was stopped.
The daily amount required for beneficial effect appears to be half a teaspoon. The study appeared in the December 2003 issue of Diabetes Care.
