Vitamin D for little boys

Vitamin D supplementation during the first year of a baby boy's life is associated with a reduced risk of schizophrenia in later life according to Australian researchers.

The study, conducted at the Queensland Centre for Schizophrenia Research. appears in the April 2004 issue of Schizophrenia Research.

Oddly, no association between vitamin D supplementation and later schizophrenia was found for females.

250,000 Estimated number of babies born worldwide each year with serious birth defects caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
