RadioShack

DSN Retailing Today, May 22, 2000

RadioShack inked yet another strategic alliance, but this time it's a three-way partnership with Compaq and Microsoft, companies the retailer has pre-existing agreements with. The deal links the three companies in an effort to help accelerate adoption rates of Web technologies, according to the retailer.

Consumers who purchase a Compaq Presario computer at RadioShack stores will also be able to sign up for either MSN or a customized version called Compaq.Net, powered by MSN. The portal links consumers to the Web sites of all three companies, which will also share in associated Internet revenue opportunities and conduct joint marketing and advertising programs. Additionally, RadioShack is offering six months of free service to consumers who sign up for MSN.
