Ahold to offer electronic banking - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, June 18, 2001

TORONTO -- A hold USA has teamed up with the Amicus Financial Division of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce to provide electronic banking services in select East Coast stores this fall. The program will entail financial services for A hold customers through automated teller machines, telephone call centers, the Internet and in-store pavilions.

This is likely similar to the deal Amicus already has with some customers, such as Canadian super-market chain Loblaw, in which banking pavilions and ATMs are established in stores that sell bank products under the retailer's private-label brand. A hold operates five supermarket chains in the United States, primarily along the East Coast, and owns a 58% stake in on-line grocer Peapod.
