Massive mall expansion underway - for Taubman Centers - Brief Article

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. -- Three shopping malls totaling 4 million sq. ft. are scheduled to open in the next few months as mall developer Taubman Centers continues its rapid expansion. Taubman opened the 1.4 million-sq.-ft. Dolphin Mall in Miami earlier this year, and it is scheduled to open the 1.5 million sq.-ft.

Shops at Willow Bend north of Dallas on Aug. 3. It will be followed by the Sept. 14 opening of the 1.3 million-sq.-ft. International Plaza in Tampa, Fla., and the Oct. 5 opening of the 1.3 million-sq.-ft. Mall at Wellington Run near Palm Beach, Fla. The addition of all four malls this year will add a total of 5.5 million sq. ft. to the 16 malls totaling 16.7 million sq. ft. Taubman operated at the end of the last fiscal year.
