Environmental Protection Agency - motor vehicle aftermarket service facility legislation - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, August 6, 2001

The Environmental Protection Agency recently issued a proposal to require carmakers to make emissions-related diagnostic tools available to aftermarket service facilities, and to mandate that all service and training information be available on the Web. Last month, a regulatory hearing was held in Ann Arbor, Mich, to discuss the EPA's proposal.

AAIA and other aftermarket groups are supporting legislation that uses language similiar to the California emissions and diagnostics legislation that Gov. Gray Davis signed last fall.
