DSN Retailing Today, August 12, 2002
Until only a year or two ago, the storage department of a typical mass-market retailer was dominated by home storage items in an array of shapes, colors and sizes, all designed to make it easier to hide away possessions not of immediate use. But retailers have given considerable space to a new segment--food storage containers designed for home-prepared meals on the go.
While food storage containers have long existed, the newest generation are a bit different. Such is the case with MediaCorp Worldwide's Salad Blaster. A clear 32-ounce cup holds salad, and a container in the lid holds dressing. When some hungry consumer is ready to eat, a quick shake mixes the ingredients so they are immediately ready for consumption.

Bed Bath & Beyond grabbed the Salad Blaster soon after its introduction earlier this year and rolled it out to its stores, but it is generally available. Additional placement includes Wal-Mart, among others. A 64-ounce Salad Blaster also is set to roll out.
