Michael Dell relinquishes ceo title

DSN Retailing Today, August 2, 2004

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS -- Dell Computer founder Michael Dell has passed the torch of executive leadership, transferring the ceo title to president and coo, Kevin Rollins, at the company's annual shareholder meeting on July 16. Rollins was also officially elected to sit on the board of directors. Dell remains as chairman of the board.

"Today's change is primarily one of title, not of roles or responsibilities, so it won't alter the way Kevin and I run the business," said Dell. "However, the change is a very important and exciting milestone, our first transition of top leadership."
