Photo frames get wired - CE & entertainment: what's hot what's new what's happening - digital displays for digital photos are becoming increasingly popular option

For the less technologically savvy who are looking for a special way to preserve memories, Bed Bath & Beyond carries Sharper Image Talking Photo Albums. A message can be recorded for each picture, and the store's Web site describes the product as a "perfect gift for that far-away loved one." A button plays the message for the photo being viewed when pressed. The recording is digital and preserved by Flash memory. The smaller album retails for $29.99 and the large for $39.99, both with browl covers.

However, conventional frames for printed photos are still the biggest seller. The most common method of sharing digital images is still printing them, and stores continue to showcase conventional frames and albums near digital cameras and accessories both in-store and on Web sites. Now that options are available to display digital images without printing them, perhaps this sector will begin catching up to conventional frames for prints and can hope for adoption rates to rival DVD.
