Peapod, Ahold ensure buyout - $73 mn acquisition for majority stake in online grocery firm - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, Sept 3, 2001

> SKOKIE, ILL. -- Peapod shareholders and Ahold have settled a lawsuit, a development that should clear the way for its planned buyout of the on-line grocer. A judge's approval is pending, but the deal should ensure that the buyout goes through. The suit claimed that Peapod's prospects and financial performance had improved to the extent that Ahold's April 2000 $73 million payout for a majority stake in the on-line grocer had constituted an undervaluation.
