The Home Depot - Retailer News - agreement with Deere & Company to sell a new line of John Deere-branded lawn and garden tractors - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, Sept 9, 2002

The Home Depot has signed an agreement with Deere & Company to sell a new line of John Deere-branded lawn and garden tractors next spring. The deal marks the first time Deere-brand riding mowers will be available in the mass channel. Service and support will be available at Deere dealers for John Deere tractors purchased at Home Depot.

The new 100-series of John Deere will replace Scotts tractors, the private-label line built by Deere for Home Depot since 1998. The lawn tractors will be offered in cutting widths from 42 inches to 54 inches, with various horsepower ratings. The deal also entails elimination of the Sabre brand of lawn tractors sold through Deere dealers.
