Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedAll-natural cat litter 'cleans up' industry
DSN Retailing Today, Sept 12, 2005 by Doug Desjardins
A major downside to owning a cat is tending to the smell and overflow of the litter box. But now, several companies are helping to alleviate those problems with natural products that address issues like clumping, trailing and odor.
Mountain Meadows recently introduced a product called Cat Country Elite that contains small granules of wheat grass that help prevent clumping and sticking. The litter is also all-natural with no harmful chemicals and can be scooped and flushed down the toilet when it's used up.
Another new item that addresses the same problems is Cat's Pride Advance Scoopable Litter with Odor Eaters from Oil Dri Corp. As the name implies, the litter contains odor-controlling agents that reduce the smell of high-traffic litter boxes and large granules that help eliminate tracking.

Also new to stores is World's Best Cat Litter, another all-natural cat litter made with whole kernel corn that helps eliminate odors and can be scooped and flushed.
