DSN Retailing Today, Sept 22, 2003 by Mike Duff

Ikea has broken ground on its first store in Connecticut in September as well as a replacement unit in Houston in August. The Connecticut store, in New Haven, will cover 306,000 square feet near the interchange of the I-95 and I-91 highways. The 300,000-square-foot store being built in Houston is adjacent to the smaller unit it is replacing, which has been there since '92 and will be demolished for parking.

Ikea also has new units planned in Bloomington, Minn., Dublin, Calif., Philadelphia, Somerville, Mass., and Tempe, Ariz.
