> Total retail prescription drug sales for 2000 are expected to reach a record $143.5 billion, according to projections released recently by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. This figure represents an increase of 18% over the 1999 year-end level of $121.7 billion. In making its annual sales projection, NACDS also projects a 5.5% increase in the number of prescriptions dispensed in the retail pharmacy marketplace.
