The Los Angeles Unified School District - In the Mix - ban on the sale of soft drinks on school grounds in Los Angeles - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, Oct 7, 2002

> Washington, D.C. -- The Los Angeles Unified School District has banned soda sales in middle and high schools, and that, says the Grocery Marketing Association, is counterproductive. GMA has hit back at the ban, calling it simplistic and unhelpful in educating children to make good food choices. Sales of milk, water, sports drinks with less than 42 grams of sugar in a 20-ounce serving, and beverages with at least 50% real juice are permitted.
