RETAILER

Nina Miner, vp of trend and product development, The Children's Place

MINER:

Corduroy is going to stay with us, and definitely denim, and we found fashion outerwear to be something that really performs for us. It is all about balance, though. No matter how many fake furs we assort, we make sure to supply the basics needed for day-to-day life as well. Our comps have been great because of our balance of fashion and basics done in our unique way, and I think that is what our customers will continue to respond to.

VENDOR

Arthur Lavitt, president, Paul Lavitt Mills

LAVITT:

It is becoming more and more clear that retailers need nationally recognized brands in order for them to reach a specific market segment or larger audience. There is no question that nationally recognized brands add credibility to private label programs. As a result, we are adding more brands to our offering for 2004, including a line under license from designer Cynthia Rowley.
