MINNEAPOLIS -- Target continues to encircle Manhattan with its stores following the recent opening of a new unit in Brooklyn and the announced location of its first stores in the Bronx. The 156,000-square-foot Bronx location, scheduled to open in early 2004, will be unique in that two-thirds of its 900 parking spaces will be located on the store's roof.

"We have been expanding our presence in the New York area and specifically seeking great locations within New York City," said Target senior vp John Griffith. The company also has three stores less than 10 miles from midtown Manhattan, two in Queens and one in Edgewater, N.J.
