NEW YORK -- Wal-Mart recently upped the ante in the quickly-escalating war for market share of the online/rent-by-mail DVD segment by dropping their monthly membership fee to $12.97. Just last month, Blockbuster dropped the price of its online membership fee to $14.99, undercutting both Wal-Mart and online rental pioneer Netflix.
