Food Lion, a division of Delhaize America, last month shut down 41 of its 1,228 stores. The unprofitable stores were located in 10 states. Delhaize also closed one of its Kash n' Karry units. The closings will not impact Delhaize's plan to open 45 new Food Lion stores this year.
