Sega of America - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, Feb 19, 2001

Sega of America is pulling the plug on its Dreamcast game console. Sega announced that it will stop producing the console in March and has dropped the price to $99 to clear out inventory. Sega will concentrate on developing games for other platforms--Playstation 2 and Game Boy Advance--and is in discussions with Microsoft to develop games for its X-Box system due to launch later this year.

Dreamcast never lived up to expectations in the United States, selling only 1.4 million units last year.
