CHICAGO -- The Retail Advertising and Marketing Association held its annual awards and conference in Chicago this month, and once again Target Stores walked away a winner with six awards for excellence in advertising.

"All of this year's winners displayed creativity beyond anything the industry has witnessed in past years," said Tom Holliday, RAMA President. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor these people for the outstanding efforts and inspiration that they lend our industry."

Target received the Peter Glen Award for its breast cancer awareness campaign, as did Half Price Books for its "Say Goodnight to Illiteracy" program. The award recognizes companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to the community.

Target also took home other honors for its Holiday 2004 campaign, a new media program that floated sailboats bearing the trademark bulls-eye on billowing sails along the shores of Lake Michigan, the "Wants/Needs" TV campaign, the Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2004 magazine program and the "Designer Quilt-Holiday '04" insert.

REI's billboard campaign promoting a new store grand opening garnered an award as did OfficeMax's TV ads entitled "The Party's Over." Half Priced Books' irreverent "Banned Books" promotion won for the in-store display category, and Mervyn's took the PR prize for its press kit promoting the Holly Robinson Peete Maternity Line.
