A new look for an ever-changing business - Letter from the Publisher

DSN Retailing Today, March 10, 2003

The apparel business is predicated on change. New hemlines and colors make for fashion headlines and marketing campaigns in much the same way that new line extensions and the brand versus private label debate are the fodder for business stories.

This month we are making our own news with a redesign of Apparel Merchandising. Each issue will continue to deliver insightful analysis of the merchandising and marketing of men's, women's and children's apparel. However, our new format will also allow us to put a greater focus on breaking news and to spotlight retailers and suppliers who influence this important market segment.

There is another change in this issue of AM. It is the first issue since 1985 without a contribution from Associate Publisher Jeffrey Arlen. Jeff was recently named Associate Publisher of Home Channel News, a sister publication at Lebhar-Friedman.

AM remains committed to providing readers with useful business information, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this ever-changing, exciting segment of retail.
