Healthy appliances

DSN Retailing Today, March 27, 2006 by Mike Duff

New product introductions this year demonstrate that healthy eating is having a profound impact on housewares. Maybe it's the increase in food and beverage containers that allow consumers to bring home-cooked healthy meals with them wherever they go, even to Mt. Everest in the case of a new outdoor-oriented Thermos line. Or perhaps it's the flood of new rice cookers that promise consumers they can make low-fat, tasty and exotic meals more easily. Zojirushi is just one of several manufacturers with plans to launch multiple rice steamers/cookers, because these days new products are more frequently linking themselves to nutrition and better eating.

And that doesn't even take into consideration the entire juicer segment.

Among manufacturers, Tribest is offering a range of appliances that help consumers eat better with the stainless steel Soybella soy milk maker (pictured), MSRP of $129, that processes soybeans and water into a beverage in 15 minutes.
