Home Depot to test lawn, garden concept - Market Watch - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, April 8, 2002

ATLANTA -- As part of a growing effort to diversify its formats and capture a greater share of the pro/contractor market, Home Depot has announced plans to test three new 12,000-square-foot stand-alone lawn & garden nursery stores in its home market of Georgia, according to analyst reports. The announcement of the new format, which is expected to open within the next 12 months in the cities of Woodstock, Duluth and Kennesaw, reveals the company's second major initiative in the last few months to capture more pro business.

Late last year, Home Depot began rolling out its new Supply format, a 130,000-square-foot store directly aimed at the contractor market.
