Mattel Toys has inked a deal with Artisan Home Entertainment to distribute a second direct-to-video film starring Barbie, "Barbie as Rapunzel," which is currently in production and tentatively scheduled for an October release. Artisan shipped more than 3.5 million units of Mattel's first Barbie movie, "Barbie in the Nutcracker," in 2001.

Artisan also partnered with Big Idea Productions to distribute the first "Veggie Tales" movie in theaters later this year under its new FHE Pictures banner, which will release one or two family films each year.
