CHICAGO - Five senior Wal-Mart executives were named to the board of Japanese retailer Seiyu as Wal-Mart continues to deepen its involvement following last year's initial investment. Named to the Seiyu board were WalMart International ceo John Menzer and coo Craig Herkert, Wal-Mart Asia president Joe Hatfield, Wal-Mart International Holdings senior vp Jeff McAllister and cfo Greg Penner.

WalMart acquired a 6.1% stake in the $8.3 billion retailer a year ago and had increased its ownership interest to 37.7% by the end of last year. Wal-Mart has options to acquire up to two-thirds of Seiyu by the end of 2007.
