While business contributions are an important consideration, equally important are factors such as leadership and community involvement. In Moore's case, he served as vice president of operations for south Florida in 2004 when the state was devastated by three hurricanes to make landfall in a one-month period. Moore spearheaded Wal-Mart's relief efforts as the retailer donated merchandise and its employees rendered aid to co-workers and residents of damaged communities. Moore also ensured that Wal-Mart stores damaged by the storms quickly resumed operations.
