Wal-Mart being sued over toy guns - Market Watch - Brief Article

DSN Retailing Today, April 21, 2003

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Wal-Mart, which is in hot water in California for violating gun sale laws, is now the subject of a lawsuit in New York for allegedly selling toy guns that lack the required safety markings. Wal-Mart has acknowledged that its toy guns do not have all the state-required markings; however, the company maintains that it need only to comply with federal laws, which requires an orange cap on the end of the barrel.

The Wal-Mart litigation seeks to prohibit the company from selling toy weapons in New York that violate state law and also seeks penalties against the company.
