The Home Depot has launched a lawn and garden certification program for associates. Since the program began in February, more than 1,700 associates have completed the 16-hour computer course, tripling the number of certified nursery consultants in stores. Enhancing store expertise is a competitive response to rival Lowe's growth, which continues to expand and threaten Depot as segment leader.
