Laszlo Tauber Estate is in talks with a redevelopment specialist that is interested in buying the 549,000-sf office building at 5001 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, Va. The property could bring a price of $55 million, or $100/sf. U.S. Army Materiel Management has used the building as its headquarters since it was constructed in 1972, but will move to nearby Fort Belvoir next month.
An investor could reposition the property for residential or mixed use, but brokers say the building will require a complete overhaul even if it remains traditional office space. The building sits on a 16-acre site that is zoned to allow for the construction of a second structure of similar size.
