Microsoft Books Hotels With Pegasus Systems

Microsoft Corp. and Pegasus Systems Inc. (Dallas) announced that Microsoft will use Pegasus Systems' hotel database in connection with the Microsoft Travel Technologies (MTT) platform. This agreement will offer existing and future MTT platform licensees access to approximately 100 hotel brands and information on more than 17,000 hotels in 143 countries. MTT provides booking functionality and selected editorial content to Internet travel sites.

StarBurst Communications Bursts Into Internet2 Project

StarBurst Communications Corp. (Concord, Mass.) announced that it is the first independent software vendor corporate partner in the Internet2 project. The company is donating more than $1 million of its multicast software to aid in the development of IP Multicast-enabled network technologies for the Internet2 project. StarBurst will collaborate with other Internet2 members to develop multicast-enabled applications in areas such as telemedicine, interactive distance learning and online collaborative research.

Incentive From InternetPerks

InternetPerks (Portland, Ore.) announced IncentiveWare, a line of small software programs created specifically for promotional use. This program is designed to allow companies to attract new visitors to its Web site with the offer of free downloadable software programs. It is also intended to provide companies that have not had an aggressive Internet presence to use the Internet as a promotional tool. Examples of IncentiveWare programs are date calculators, loan and mortgage calculators, and margin and markup calculators.

Branching Out With Learning Tree

Learning Tree Int'l (Reston, Va.) announced six new Professional Certification programs: Windows NT Web Administration Certified Professional, Windows NT Web Development Certified Professional, Lotus Notes/ Domino Certified Professional, Oracle8 Application Development Certified Professional, Cisco Router Certified Professional, and Telecommunications Systems Certified Professional. Each program includes the successful completion of four core courses, one elective course, and the associated examinations.
