Dom's First Draft Is Out

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C, Cambridge, Mass.) has issued the first working draft of a Document Object Model (DOM) specification, Core Level 1, addressing the core functionality for document navigation and content manipulation. According to the W3C, current software implementations that allow dynamic access and updates of content, structure and style lack a standard interface, resulting in authors' inability to use the programs in an interoperable manner. Microsoft Searches With Inktomi

Microsoft Corp. and Inktomi Corp. (San Mateo, Calif.) announced an agreement to deliver search capabilities for Microsoft online properties, principally the Microsoft Network (MSN). Using the Inktomi technology and Microsoft's front-end interface, this agreement seeks to enable online users to access an index of more than 75 million Internet documents. The search service will be introduced early next year on both The Microsoft Network Premier subscription service and on MSN.com.
