Mirapoint Delivers E-mail Thin Servers - the M100 and M1000 Internet e-mail thin server appliances - Brief Article - Product Announcement

ENT, Feb 3, 1999

Mirapoint Inc. recently unveiled two Internet e-mail thin server appliances, the M100 and the M1000.

Both models offer fully integrated standards-based e-mail services, routing, message storage, access functions and Raid 5 protection. The appliances perform the basic functions of an e-mail server and are based on Internet standards, including POP, MIME, STMP and IMAP.

The M100 is designed for mid-size corporations and remote sites of large corporations - it can handle up to three hundred users per system. The M1000 is designed for larger corporations, ISPs, or environments with a large number of incoming messages and a high frequency of server connections per user.

Both the M100 and the M1000 can reside next to Unix or Windows NT servers since they are not designed to run on third-party applications servers. Additionally, since neither appliance needs integration of third-party applications they are compatible with other e-mail clients, including Qualcomm Eudora, Microsoft Outlook Express, Outlook 98 and Netscape Communicator.

Each thin server can be installed in about 10 minutes.
