Inovie Ships TeamCenter 2.0 - Java-based collaborative project management software for workgroups - Product Announcement

ENT, Feb 3, 1999

Inovie Software Inc. released TeamCenter 2.0, the latest version of its TeamCenter product line, in late January. TeamCenter is a Java- based collaborative project management system designed to coordinate team member projects and to allow a team to work in real time.

TeamCenter 2.0 comes equipped with new features. The percentage resource allocation allows resources to be more easily split across multiple tasks. It also includes a rules-based notification wizard that notifies team members when a task is complete. Additionally, projects created in Microsoft Project - or projects written in standard MPX format - can be imported into TeamCenter 2.0 for use by the entire team.

Built on a three-tier SQL database model, TeamCenter 2.0 enables users to work on the same project concurrently. The software uses Java Distributed Object Technology (JDOT), an architecture that facilitates real-time response. The real-time behavior instantly updates changes, enables team members to manipulate the system at the same time and receive immediate feedback. Since the updates are instant, there is no need for manual refreshing or reloading of data. The JDOT architecture also prevents project lockout because the real-time application space is shared by everyone.

TeamCenter operates on Windows 95, 98, Windows NT and other Java- supported platforms.
