Animals, Wntr-Spring, 2003
Music to your canine's ears? Studies at Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the Rehoming Centre of the National Canine Defence League in Evesham, England, found classical music to be soothing to dogs. Heavy metal, on another paw, tended to cause agitation. Studying 50 dogs in a shelter, university researchers played Vivaldi's Four Seasons and other classical compositions as well as heavy-metal bands such as Metallica and monitored the animals' reactions.
