Tuberculosis, most likely spread by infected ecotourism workers, has struck populations of African meerkats and another mongoose species. It is uncertain how a group of Kalahari Desert meerkats, which were wiped out, contracted the disease, but researchers speculate that the mongooses were exposed after finding their way into a Botswana hotel's dump....
