AORN Journal, Jan, 2001

Sunday, March 11, to Thursday, March 15, 2001

HEADQUARTERS STAFF MEMBERS

Approximately 60 staff members from Headquarters work on-site during Congress to see that you have the best possible educational and networking experience. Staff members will be wearing green ribbons and will be more than willing to assist you with any questions you may have. The Headquarters/Board Office will be located in Room D321 of the Dallas Convention Center. Attendees can make appointments with members of the Board of Directors, headquarters staff members, and the parliamentarian.

HEADQUARTERS CUSTOMER SERVICE

The customer service department at AORN Headquarters in Denver will be fully staffed during Congress to assist members. Customer service staff members will be available by telephone from 8 AM to 4:30 PM mountain time Monday through Friday and may be reached by calling (800) 755-2676 x 1.

CONGRESS NEWS

During Congress week, Congress News will be published daily beginning Sunday, March 11, through Thursday, March 15. Daily editions will cover the many Congress events, including House of Delegates sessions, Forums, education sessions, and awards presentations. A special edition will be published Thursday afternoon to announce the results of the election.

Congress attendees can pick up copies of Congress News in the registration area of the Dallas Convention Center. All items submitted for publication must be in the Congress News office, Room D266 in the Convention Center, by noon the day before they are to be published. If you would like an event covered in Congress News, please see one of the editors.

Publication is at the discretion of the editorial director, and Congress News will not include group meeting announcements or exhibitor prize announcements.

COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE BUS

Attendees wearing Congress badges may ride the AORN shuttle buses the entire week. Busing begins on Saturday, March 10, at 10 AM and ends Thursday, March 15, at 7 PM. Bus route information and schedules will be available at the registration counters in the Dallas Convention Center and at all official AORN hotels. This information also will be placed on the AORN web site in February.

Shuttle service runs between official AORN hotels and the Dallas Convention Center. Bus service is not provided for pre-Congress or meetings arranged by state councils, chapters, or other groups.

CONGRESS BADGE INFORMATION

All Congress badges will be white and will be printed with this year's Congress logo. For easy identification, exhibitor badges will have burgundy-colored bands across the bottom. AORN member attendees' badges will have the words member, delegate, or alternate centered across the bottom.

INTERACTIVE CONGRESS STATIONS

AORN will provide computer stations at Congress again this year. Each computer will contain the Congress survey, hotel locator, product locator, session scheduler, and Electronic Job Bulletin Board (EJBB).

The Congress survey includes questions related to Congress and changing work environments and provides valuable feedback to AORN leaders and industry partners. The hotel locator service allows attendees to locate colleagues, delegates, and friends. This service provides hotel addresses and telephone numbers, which makes it easier to stay in touch. Product locators allow attendees to search specific categories of products to find the names and booth numbers of companies that market such products. The session scheduler allows attendees to create a personal itinerary at Congress. New this year, all computers in the computer stations will have the EJBB included with the other services.

MAIL HOME CENTER

The Mail Home Center will be located in Rooms D267 to D274 in the Dallas Convention Center. Attendees may purchase a box for $10 at the beginning of the week and store books and giveaways at the Mail Home Center throughout the week. At the end of Congress, boxes will be sealed and shipped to the attendee's designated address. Appropriate shipping fees will be collected.

MULTIMEDIA PRODUCT SALES

Most education sessions at Congress will be audiotaped, and selected sessions will be videotaped. Audiotape and videotape orders will be taken at the booth in the registration area located in Lobby D of the Dallas Convention Center. We suggest you order early in the week so your requested items are ready for you before leaving Dallas. This year, we are proud to announce a new pricing structure.

* Pre-Congress sales    $10 per tape
* On-site sales         $12 per tape
* Post-Congress sales   $14 per tape

Four CD-ROMs will be available on-site. Each covers a different hot topic--perioperative nurses, supply system management, safety issues, and critical issues in the perioperative practice setting. Contact hours are available for each CD-ROM session, or they can be used for in-house staff development programs.
