AORN member elected president of JCAHO Committee - Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations

Denise L. Geuder, RN, MS, CNOR, has been elected president of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Ambulatory Care Professional and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC). The PTAC advises JCAHO on standards development and survey procedure changes. Geuder, a former member of the SSM editorial board and an active AORN member, is vice president of patient care services at St Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. Geuder provides leadership for surgical services, cardiovascular services, laboratory, and radiology.

Geuder directed the design and implementation of a hospital-sponsored ambulatory surgery center for St Francis Hospital. She is a frequent speaker for AORN on topics such as ambulatory surgery, case management, process improvement, job redesign, and case scheduling strategies. Geuder authored a chapter of the 11th edition of Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery and the second edition of Ambulatory Surgical Nursing.
