The "Editorial" reports that the National Student Nurses' Association has passed a resolution titled "Active Student Participation in the Operating Suite." * In "Speak Out," an author says the Health Maintenance Organization Act passed in 1973 will give nurses greater opportunities to assess and implement patient care and make them more accountable to patients as consumers.

* The Journal reports that with the formation of a new chapter in Delaware, all 50 states now have AORN chapters. * In an article titled "Why surgeons behave like surgeons," an author says surgeons put themselves in an emotionally, physically, and financially vulnerable position every time they treat a patient.
