10 years ago in the AORN Journal

AORN Journal, July, 2004

The newly redesigned Journal features an easy-to-read table of contents, article abstracts, color illustrations, and a new column--the "Perioperative Time Capsule." * The AORN Board reports that it has adopted a policy of using nonsexist language in its communications. This will include the use of the word chair instead of chairman.

* An article on retrieving foreign bodies from children's aerodigestive tracts says that hot dogs are the most prevalent cause of food asphyxiation in older children and adults. * In an "Opinion" column, an author says that both bachelor and master of science in nursing degrees are necessary to broaden nurses' backgrounds and empower them to survive in the current job market.
