2005 slate of candidates

AORN Journal,  Jan, 2005

As a director at Highland Park Hospital, I oversee five departments with a combined annual budget in excess of $60 million. Mentoring my managers' financial and leadership skills develops future leaders, guaranteeing a transition of talent. Team leaders run their own businesses or service, monitoring their volume while managing their expenses. As a whole, perioperative services continually meet or exceed budget expectations.

While a member of the Board of Directors, I have served on the Finance and Audit and Policy Committees, building a solid foundation for Treasurer. In the boardroom, I have participated in many challenging debates and watched how passion can lead us away from the fiduciary objectives of AORN. A successful Treasurer must be able to differentiate money versus mission. As your Treasurer, I will make sure the Association's money is managed properly and will guide the Board in reaching fiscally sound decisions.

We must find new creative ways to engage members and recruit new ones while supporting the mission and vision of AORN. Conducting Board chapter visits has been an honor and an opportunity to listen to the heart of the Association--its members. I will continue my service to the members, represent you in the legislative arena, and with your vote for Treasurer, balance AORN's checkbook.
