AORN Journal, Jan, 2007
For the past 11 years, HealthStream, Inc, in collaboration with AORN and Congress exhibitors, has provided continuing education (CE) opportunities on the exhibit floor. These educational activities, which are focused specifically on perioperative patient care, provide information that will enhance the knowledge and expertise of Congress attendees. This information will be highly sought after, especially by nurses who are seeking recertification in perioperative professional nursing, because of recertification requirements from the Competency & Credentialing Institute.
As the exclusive provider of education on the exhibit floor in 2006, HealthStream offered CE to AORN members and attendees, who completed more than 35,000 activities during the 2006 Congress. In 2007, live 30-minute workshops, which are accompanied by a self-study review, as well as print independent study guides will be offered. Each activity (ie, workshop, study guide) offers one continuing education contact hour of credit (Table 1). Exhibitors providing CE activities will be highlighted on the 2007 Exhibit Guide map to enable attendees to easily find participating booths on the exhibit floor. As a convenient alternative to dealing with printed posttests and evaluation and registration forms, attendees will have the opportunity to register online for all activities at the HealthStream-sponsored computer kiosks on the exhibit floor or at any other web-enabled computer.
For the second year at Congress, HealthStream will offer the Education Achievement Recognition Network (EARN), a program that recognizes attendees who support their own development and improve patient care by participating in CE activities offered on the exhibit floor. For more information about the EARN program, visit http://www.aorn.org/congress/2007/exhib its/default.asp#education or come to the HealthStream booth (ie, booth 2570) at Congress.
