The AORN House of Delegates will meet twice during the 2007 Congress in Orlando, Fla--Monday, March 12, and Thursday, March 15. Both House sessions will follow strict parliamentary procedure. Two Forums also are scheduled--one on Monday, March 12, and one on Wednesday, March 14. Depending on the content presented, RNs may be able to earn contact hours by attending the Forums and House of Delegates sessions and correctly completing the scan form provided at Congress.
Any additions to the Forum agenda will be published in the February issue of the AORN Journal and in Congress Resources. If you have items to be included on the House of Delegates or Forum agenda, mail the information to Paula R. Graling, RN, MSN, CNOR, CNS, AORN President, 2170 S Parker Rd, Suite 300, Denver, CO 80231-5711, or stop by the Headquarters/Board Office at The Orange County Convention Center. Items to be voted on at the House first must be taken to a Forum for discussion.

TABLE 1 Proposed Bylaws Amendment Related to Specialty Assembly Representation Motion made that the AORN House of Delegates amend the Bylaws, Article VIII, Section 1, as follows: Section 1: Committees and Task Forces In order to facilitate the Association's mission and strategic plan as well as the needs of the profession, the Board of Directors shall at least annually create such committees and ad hoc task forces as it deems desirable. The President-elect shall appoint the members of all such committees and ad hoc task forces. Each committee or task force shall consist of a chair and at least two (2) additional members. Each committee of task force shall have only such powers as are specifically delegated to it by the Board of Directors. A majority of the members of the committee or task force shall constitute a quorum. Section 2: Specialty Assemblies Specialty Assemblies allow members to network with other members from practice areas of interest and share their specialty expertise. Section 2.3: Organizational Units To achieve the mission and purposes of AORN, the Board of Directors may establish organizational units to serve special interests of the membership. Section 3.4: State Councils State Councils composed of registered nurses may be recognized as AORN affiliates by the Board of Directors. To be eligible for the office of President-elect or Vice President, a nominee must have served at least one (1) year as a member of the Board of Directors and must possess a minimum educational preparation of a BSN or bachelor's degree in a related field.
