This presentation will explore the various risk factors associated with the care of the female cardiac patient. The presentation will look back and ahead in relationship to women's heart health and advancements in surgical innovation. The new guidelines for valve surgery with a focus on minimally invasive approaches will be discussed along with the associated patient outcomes and long-term benefit. The presentation will focus on the importance of teamwork and its relationship to successful outcomes. The role of the cardiac RN first assistant will also be discussed.
