The AORN Journal has been honored with a 2003 APEX Award for Excellence in feature series writing. The series "Ethics in Perioperative Practice" was published in nine parts from April 2002 to December 2002. The articles explored the effect that the American Nurses Association's (ANA's) Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements has on perioperative nurses. Each article interpreted one of the nine provisions outlined in the ANA code and provided examples relevant to perioperative nursing. Article authors included Jackie L. Berlandi, RN, MS, CNOR; Catherine Broom, ARNP, APRN-BC; Cecil A. King, RN, MS, CNOR; Kathryn Schroeter, RN, MS, MA, CNOR; and Patricia C. Seifert, RN, MSN, CRNFA, FAAN.
