30 years ago in the AORN Journal

AORN Journal, August, 2007

The "President's Message" describes Project 25, an AORN initiative that will seek to define the role of the OR nurse, suggest methods of operationalizing that role, and facilitate implementation of the identified role. * Several articles detail innovative teaching programs to prepare patients, including pediatric patients, for surgery.

* "Legislation" reports that some state legislatures have circumvented a government ban on interstate shipment of laetril, an apricot pit derivative used in cancer therapy, by passing laws that allow for its manufacture, sale, and use within the state. * A news item says long-term hospitalization of tuberculosis patients is usually unnecessary and detracts from the effectiveness of outpatient treatment programs.
