30 years ago in the AORN Journal

AORN Journal, Sept, 2004

The "Editorial" comments on the case of a nurse who was pressured to resign her position after she took a stand against technicians circulating in the OR at her hospital. * An author writes, "The storage, care, cleansing, and use of the microscope by the OR nurse requires logic, common sense, and expertise, sprinkled generously with ingenuity and imagination." * A study finds that 92% of surgeons believe many nursing schools put undue emphasis on the administrative and sociologic aspects of nursing.

* The Journal reports that the Medical Devices Technical Advisory Board is beginning efforts to produce nationally accepted standards for lifesaving and life-restoring devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
